Designed for systematic, medium-frequency strategies on perpetuals and prediction markets.

e.g. BanZhuan ↗

Stablecoin Infrastructure

Stablecoin Infrastructure

Advisory on stablecoin design, issuance architecture, reserve structure, and regulatory strategy. Includes projects at the intersection of central bank systems and private stablecoin rails, as well as work on the economic stability mechanisms that govern algorithmic and collateralized stablecoin systems.

e.g. Auton ↗

Layer-1 Blockchain

L1 Infrastructure

Advised and contributed to multiple independent layer-1 blockchain projects, including consensus design, tokenomics, validator economics, and go-to-market positioning. Includes both public and permissioned L1s.

Enterprise Blockchain

Enterprise & Permissioned Ledgers

Worked on enterprise blockchain deployments at large financial institutions, including interbank settlement projects, trade finance applications, and cross-border payment infrastructure built on permissioned ledger platforms. For a candid market assessment of the leading platforms, R3 Corda, Hyperledger Fabric, Besu, and Digital Asset Canton, see the Enterprise Blockchain Market Briefing →

DeFi Protocols · AMMs

DeFi & Liquidity Protocols

Advisory across DeFi protocol design, covering liquidity mechanisms, governance structures, and risk frameworks, from early-stage development through institutional DeFi integration. Includes hands-on work on AMM design and liquidity provision mechanics: impermanent loss analysis, fee structures, capital efficiency, and how automated market maker infrastructure interacts with institutional liquidity requirements.

Onchain Derivatives

Perpetuals & Derivatives

Direct experience with onchain perpetual protocol development, including margin systems, oracle design, and liquidation mechanics. Advisory on how derivatives infrastructure fits within regulated contexts.

NFTs · On-Chain Ecosystems

Digital Ownership & On-Chain Ecosystems

Advisory and product development across NFT infrastructure: digital IP frameworks, on-chain provenance, royalty structures, and the intersection of tokenized digital assets with intellectual property. Includes experience with on-chain token economies and the design of in-asset ownership structures across decentralized ecosystems.

Digital Identity · Analytics

Identity, Analytics & Compliance

Worked on decentralized identity and verifiable credential systems, including self-sovereign identity frameworks and public blockchain-based credential issuance. Paired with direct experience building blockchain analytics products for compliance and risk contexts: transaction tracing, entity identification, and AML-related tooling for bank compliance teams.

Research & Publications

What the team has written and presented

Post Oak Labs consultants have authored books, research papers, op-eds, and industry presentations widely cited in major publications and at leading global industry events, including keynote speeches and panel appearances across fintech and blockchain conferences. Topics covered include:

Books

The team has authored multiple books on blockchain and distributed ledger technology, including an early guide to smart contracts and trustless asset management (published 2014) and an analytical treatment of bitcoin as a money-like informational commodity. These were among the first books on these topics and remain standard references in the field.

Permissioned Blockchain

A 2015 paper on permissioned distributed ledger systems, "Consensus-as-a-service", is credited with popularizing the term "permissioned blockchain" in the fintech industry and helped establish the conceptual distinction between public and permissioned ledgers that became foundational to institutional blockchain design. The concept remains a standard reference in discussions of enterprise and institutional distributed ledger technology globally.

CBDC & Central Bank Infrastructure

Direct senior involvement in central bank digital currency initiatives at the institutional level, including leading a global CBDC advisory function at a major technology firm, contributing to one of the most widely referenced central bank blockchain pilot programs globally, and advising on the design and integration of wholesale CBDC infrastructure for central banks across multiple jurisdictions. Research and presentations on retail vs. wholesale CBDC design, interoperability, and monetary policy implications.

Cross-Border Payment Infrastructure

Hands-on product development and deployment of tokenized cross-border payment infrastructure at the institutional level, including direct involvement in building a bank-led blockchain payment network that became one of the most cited examples of production tokenized remittance infrastructure globally. This work informs Post Oak Labs' current A2A payment advisory practice directly.

Stablecoin Policy

Analysis of stablecoin reserve structures, systemic risk, and regulatory design options across jurisdictions. Cited in policy discussions and by regulators evaluating stablecoin frameworks. Includes research on algorithmic stability mechanisms and the trade-offs between different collateral models.

CBDC

Research and presentations on central bank digital currency design, covering retail vs. wholesale CBDC, interoperability with existing payment infrastructure, and implications for monetary policy transmission. Includes direct involvement in early CBDC prototype projects at the central bank level.

Blockchain Analytics

Research on transaction graph analysis, entity clustering, and the limits of blockchain privacy. Cited in academic and industry contexts relevant to AML compliance and forensic tracing. Informed the development of blockchain analytics tools used by bank compliance teams.

Consensus Design

Technical writing on distributed consensus mechanisms, trade-offs between finality and throughput, and the practical implications of consensus choice for institutional use cases. Includes analysis of proof-of-work, proof-of-stake, and BFT-derived consensus designs in production environments.

Tokenized Finance

Writing on the tokenization of traditional financial instruments (money market funds, bonds, and securities), including settlement implications, regulatory treatment, and adoption constraints. Includes direct involvement in tokenized payment and settlement system deployments.

Regulatory Technology

The team has worked at the intersection of financial regulation and technology from the supervisory side as well as the implementation side. This includes academic instruction in regulatory technology (RegTech) and the application of on-chain datasets to financial compliance problems. Understanding how regulators evaluate new payment infrastructure is different from knowing how to build it; this team has done both.

Media & Events

Team members have been quoted in Wired, MIT Technology Review, Reuters, The New York Times, Bloomberg, The Wall Street Journal, the Financial Times, American Banker, and International Business Times, among others. Keynote and panel appearances include Sibos, Money20/20, DevCon, and major central bank and academic forums, with over 200 events in total. Across advisory, due diligence, and research roles, team members have collectively evaluated several hundred fintech-related projects and entities.

This background directly informs Post Oak Labs' current focus on tokenized A2A cross-border payment infrastructure for commercial banks, central banks, and large corporates in the Global South. Members of the team have built production tokenized payment systems, led institutional programs at the senior level, and shaped the research and policy frameworks the industry now works within. The A2A advisory practice comes directly out of that. See the A2A payments practice →
